Recycling

We offer a recycling service for your old appliances and any packaging. We will dispose of your old appliances in an environmentally friendly manner. We will normally take away your old appliance, like-for-like, when we deliver your new one, and make sure it is recycled in accordance with the UK's WEEE Directive (see below). If you don’t need us to recycle your old appliance then we do offer a packaging only removal service if required. Just make sure you have selected our appliance removal service in your basket.

The following charges apply for removal of old equipment and product packaging:

  • Old product recycling for just £19.99 (This includes packaging removal costs)
  • Packaging recycling for just £4.99

WEEE Directive

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive has been European Law since February 2003, aiming to make producers pay for the collection, treatment and recovery of waste electrical equipment. The regulations also mean that suppliers of equipment like high street shops and internet retailers must allow consumers to return their waste equipment for recycling. Barlows are doing their bit under these regulations to offer our customers to return products listed under the WEEE directive when you purchase a new product from us. We also allow our customers to return products back to any of our shops. Under the WEEE Regulations all new electrical goods should now be marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol. Goods are marked with this symbol to show that they were produced after 13th August 2005, and should be disposed of separately from normal household waste so that they can be recycled. We accept all forms of electrical waste including batteries which we recycle instore.

If you would like any more information on the WEEE directive please contact us or visit the HSE website for more details.
