Recycling Service
We offer a recycling service for your old appliances and packaging when we deliver your new one. Your old appliance is disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner, in accordance with the UK's WEEE Directive.
How it works
Old appliance collection & recycling
When we deliver your new appliance, we'll normally take away your old one on a like-for-like basis — so if you're having a new washing machine delivered, we'll take your old washing machine away at the same time. We make sure it's recycled in accordance with the UK's WEEE Directive.
If you don't need us to recycle your old appliance, we also offer a packaging-only removal service. Just make sure you've selected the appropriate service in your basket at checkout.

WEEE Directive
Our responsibilities under the WEEE Directive
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive has been European law since 2013, aiming to make producers pay for the collection, treatment and recovery of waste electrical equipment. The regulations mean that suppliers of equipment — including high street shops and internet retailers — must allow consumers to return their waste equipment for recycling.
Barlows are doing their bit under these regulations. We offer our customers the ability to return products back to any of our shops under the WEEE Directive when you purchase a new product from us. We also allow our customers to return products to any of our shops.
Under the WEEE Regulations, all new electrical goods should now be marked with the crossed-out wheelie bin symbol. Goods marked with this symbol show that they were produced after 13th August 2005, and should be disposed of separately from normal household waste so that they can be recycled. We accept all forms of electrical waste including batteries which we recycle onsite.
Battery recycling
Waste portable batteries
Under the Waste Battery Regulations, we offer a take-back scheme for all portable waste batteries. You can return your waste batteries to any of our retail stores — no purchase required.
Alternatively, you can find your local waste portable battery recycling facility at recyclenow.com.
