More than ever, our communities are concerned about the rising price of energy and the state of the environment. They're looking for ways to save money and the planet too. As your local home appliance experts, we can help you make more sustainable choices — without the overwhelm.
Our approach
Sustainable pillars
Our sustainability campaign is built around three pillars — each one focused on helping you find appliances that use fewer resources, cost less to run, and last longer.
Saving Water
Modern washing machines and dishwashers use significantly less water per cycle than older models. Features like load detection and eco programmes adjust water usage based on what's actually in the drum — so you're never wasting a drop.
Sustainable Materials
Leading manufacturers are increasingly using recycled plastics, sustainable packaging, and longer-lasting components. Choosing quality over price often means fewer replacements and less waste over the lifetime of your appliance.
Saving Energy
Energy-efficient appliances can make a real difference to your bills and your carbon footprint. Technologies like heat pump drying, induction cooking, and sensor programmes are designed to use only the energy that's actually needed.
Key technologies
Smarter appliances, lower bills
Here are some of the technologies available in today's appliances that can make a genuine difference to your energy and water usage.
Saving energy
Heat pump technology
Heat pump tumble dryers recycle warm air during the drying process rather than generating it fresh each cycle. This makes them significantly cheaper to run than vented or condenser models — using up to 50% less energy.
Saving energy
Induction hobs
Induction hobs create a magnetic field between the hob and your cookware, heating the pan directly rather than the cooking surface. This means cooking is quicker, more responsive, and more energy efficient — with less wasted heat.
Saving water
Sensor drying
Sensor drying detects the moisture level in your clothes and stops the cycle automatically when the load is dry. No over-drying, no wasted energy, and better fabric care.
Saving water
Auto dosing
Washing machines with auto dosing technology measure the size and soil level of each load and dispense exactly the right amount of detergent and water. Less waste, better results, and lower running costs over time.
Energy labels
Understanding the new energy ratings
In 2021, the energy label scale was reset across the UK and EU. The old A+++ rating no longer exists — everything was rescored so that a new A-rated appliance is genuinely the most efficient available. This makes it much easier to compare products at a glance.
As a general rule, A and B ratings are excellent. C is acceptable. For high-usage appliances like tumble dryers and fridge freezers, we'd always recommend prioritising energy rating where your budget allows — the difference in running costs can be significant over a year.
Our team can help. If you're unsure which energy rating to go for, or whether the extra cost of a more efficient model is worth it for your usage, ask us. We'll give you an honest answer based on how you actually use the appliance — not just the spec sheet.
What we do
Our commitment
Sustainability isn't just about the products we sell — it's about how we operate as a local business.
- WEEE recycling — we recycle old appliances in accordance with the UK's WEEE Directive when we deliver your new one. Learn more about our recycling service.
- Battery take-back — you can return waste portable batteries to either of our stores, no purchase required.
- Local delivery — our deliveries cover a defined local area. Shorter distances, fewer failed deliveries, and no national distribution network means a smaller logistics footprint.
- Repair before replace — our in-house repair service means we'll always explore fixing an appliance before suggesting a replacement.
- Honest advice — we'll recommend the most efficient appliance for your actual needs, not just the most expensive one on the shelf.

More than ever, our communities are concerned about the rising price of energy and the state of the environment.
They are looking for ways to save money and the planet too.
